Pixel Set Up & Reporting

Get More Advanced Campaign Reporting

In addition to ad event & spend tracking (impressions, video completes, spend, etc.), advertisers can also set up reporting for on-site actions so they can analyze the performance of their Roku Ad Manager campaign. To do so, advertisers can generate a unique pixel with event trackers powered by our partner, Kochava, a leader in measurement. This all happens within Roku Ad Manager Pixel Tracking page.

This pixel tracks and attributes multiple on-site metrics that occur after people view an advertisement on their Roku device. The solution is integrated with our partner Kochava, using their APIs for pixel creation and attribution tools.

Pixel Set Up

Finding the Pixel Tracking Page

Roku Ad Manager has a page that allows advertisers to create the pixel, copy the pixel script, add events, and verify whether the pixel works correctly. This page is listed under the name “Pixel Tracking” in the account avatar menu. This page is available for both Direct Advertiser and Agency accounts.

Creating Your Pixel Tag

To create a tracking pixel, find the “Pixel tracking” page and select “Create my pixel”.

Clicking this button will open the “Set up pixel tag” modal. The modal consists of 2 steps:

-    Step 1. Add pixel code: basic pixel, code script to be added to the header of the Advertiser´s business website or preferred tag manager.

-    Step 2. Create events: list of 5 specific event trackers which can be applied to track specific actions that happen on your page, like sign-ups or purchases.

As shown above, your pixel code will automatically be generated. Click “Copy” to copy script, then insert on the Advertiser´s website header or via your website’s preferred tag manager. Note that only one Pixel Tag can be generated per Advertiser and per Agency’s Client.

Once you’ve created a Pixel Tag, you will see your “Pixel Tracking” now adjusted with your unique and autogenerated pixel-ID in place of where “Create my pixel” was.

Adding Pixel Events

Setting up specific events will allow you to track specific lower funnel actions. You can set up additional event specific tags in the second step of setting up your pixels.

You can set up the following events in this step:

  • Page views
  • Sign ups
  • Video views
  • Add to cart
  • Purchases
  • Purchase value

To set these up, select the “copy” button to copy the chosen code snippet to buffer, and then place it into the body of the website page where the user will complete the specific action on the website. These can be placed anywhere on a page as long as it is after the base pixel.

Checking Pixel Event Statuses

Now that your Pixel Tracking is set up and your events are created, you will see a table with pixel events status checks. Advertisers need to wait at least 1 hour after the pixel is embedded on the website for event statuses to begin tracking, and to be displayed to the advertiser.

A “Refresh” button is available in the upper right corner of the Events statuses table to check on statuses. “The last sync” label is updated after each refresh performed.

The below table is presented after the events start being tracked:

The “Set up pixel tag” button in the right upper corner on “Events statuses” table opens the “Set up pixel tag” modal so that the user can review or copy pixel base code or events snippets again.

For Agency Accounts with Multiple Clients

Agencies can generate one pixel per client, and this must be done separately. Agencies will see a Client dropdown on the “Pixel tracking” page which will allow for specific client selection for each pixel set up. Follow the same steps as mentioned above when setting up pixels, but repeat for each client within your account:
