Hosted by Maria Menounos and Andrew Hawkins, Roku Recommends is a weekly entertainment show on The Roku Channel that highlights five of the most intriguing TV shows and movies currently streaming across all apps on the Roku platform. After premiering in early June 2021, the show quickly became one of the top 10 shows watched on The Roku Channel.
Streamers have been tuning in to the show, but we wanted to know if they were also responding to its recommendations by searching for and watching the featured shows and movies. In fact, viewers were 188% more likely to search for a title featured in an episode of Roku Recommends.
After the first six episodes of Roku Recommends premiered, we analyzed the most popular searches and streams from Roku Recommends viewers. The content featured in each episode clearly influenced what Roku users searched for.
Why This Matters: This illustrates that Roku Recommends streamers are influenced by the recommendations provided in each episode, and that streamers love finding answers to the age-old question, “What should I watch?” And brands that align themselves with the show can help provide an answer.
